Mind isolation
ནང་གི་རྐྱེན་རྡོར་བཟླས་དང་བསམ་གཏན་གཉིས་ཀྱི་སྡུད་རིམ། ཕྱིའི་རྐྱེན་ཕྱག་རྒྱའི་སྲོག་རྩོལ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྙིང་གའི་རྩ་མདུད་རྫོགས་པར་གྲོལ་ཏེ་
རླུང་རྣམས་སྙིང་གའི་མི་ཤིགས་པ་ལ་ཐིམ་པ་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་སྣང་བའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྐྱེས་པ་ནས་བཟུང་སྟེ། མ་དག་པའི་སྒྱུ་ལུས་མ་ཐོབ་པའི་སྐབས་ཀྱི་རྫོགས་རིམ་ནི།
སེམས་དབེན་གྱི་རིམ་པའི་ངོ་བོ།
Nature: A completion stage practice on the occasion of:
- From: Giving rise to the exalted wisdom of appearance arising from dissolving the winds in the indestructible drop at the heart, having completely loosened the channel-knots at the heart in dependence upon:
- The inner conditions: Their gradual gathering through Vajra Recitation and the two concentrations
- The outer condition: Prāṇāyāma using a seal
- Up to but not including: Attainment of the Impure Illusory Body.
ནང་གི་རྐྱེན་ཁྱབ་བྱེད་ཀྱི་རླུང་གི་རྡོར་བཟླས་དང༌། ཕྱིའི་རྐྱེན་ཕྱག་རྒྱའི་སྲོག་རྩོལ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྙིང་གའི་རྩ་མདུད་རྫོགས་པར་གྲོལ་ཏེ།
ཁྱབ་བྱེད་ཀྱི་རླུང་གི་ཆ་ཤས་གཅིག་དང་བཅས་རྩ་བ་དང་ཡན་ལག་གི་རླུང་རྣམས་སྙིང་གའི་མི་ཤིགས་པ་ལ་ཐིམ་པའི་སྣང་བའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ནམ་སྐྱེས་པའི་ཚེ།
ངག་དབེན་ནས་སེམས་དབེན་དུ་འཕོས་པར་འཇོག་པ་ཡིན།
One transfers from Body Isolation to Mind Isolation when (YGL): In dependence upon the inner condition (Vajra Recitation using the pervading wind) and the outer condition (prāṇāyāma using a seal), the channel-knots at the heart are completely loosened and the root and branch winds (including a part of the pervading wind) dissolve into the indestructible drop at the heart, giving rise to the exalted wisdom of appearance.
Divisions:
- Mere mind isolation (སེམས་དབེན་ཙམ།):
- Attained through utilising a wisdom-seal to dissolve four out of the five winds (excluding the pervading wind) into the indestructible drop at the heart
- In order to progress to final mind isolation, either an action-seal or the Clear Light of death is required
- If using the latter, it is transformed into the Example Clear Light and the Impure Illusory Body is attained on the intermediate state support
- Final mind isolation (སེམས་དབེན་མཐར་ཐུག):
- Attained through utilising an action-seal or the Clear Light of death to dissolve all winds into the indestructible drop at the heart
- If using an action-seal, the resultant clear light is transformed into the Example Clear Light and the Impure Illusory Body is attained on the support of the same life
Using either the action-seal or the death process to induce Clear Light will result in the fully qualified eight dissolutions, leading to the four empties and four joys.
སྐབས་འདིར་རང་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་མཁས་གྲུབ་དམ་པ་རྣམས། སེམས་དབེན་སྐྱེད་པ་ལ་ངེས་པར་ལས་རྒྱ་ལ་ལྟོས་དགོས་པར་བཞེད་པ་དང༌། ཁ་ཅིག །སེམས་དབེན་མཐར་ཐུགས་སྐྱེད་པ་ལ་དེ་དགོས་ཀྱང་སེམས་དབེན་ཙམ་ལ་མི་དགོས་གསུང༌། འགའ་ཞིག་གི་གསུང་ལས། སྔགས་བླ་མེད་ཀྱི་གདུལ་བྱ་ཤིན་ཏུ་དབང་རྣོན་འགའ་ཞིག་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཕྱག་རྒྱ་ཙམ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ལམ་རྫོགས་པར་སྐྱེད་ནུས་པས་སྐབས་གང་དུ་ཡང་ལས་རྒྱ་ལ་ལྟོས་མི་དགོས་གསུངས་པ་སོགས་བཞེད་པ་མང་ཙམ་སྣང་བས་རྗེ་བླ་མའི་དགོངས་པར་གང་སོང་ལེགས་པར་བརྟག་དགོས་སོ།
(YGL:) In this context, many of our accomplished masters assert that in order to generate mind isolation, it is definitely necessary to rely upon an action-seal, whereas some say that although that is necessary in order to generate final mind isolation, it is not necessary for mere mind isolation. Some say that some very sharp faculty disciples of HYT are able to generate the complete path merely in dependence upon a wisdom-seal and therefore, never have to rely upon an action-seal. Since many such assertions appear, it is necessary to investigation which accord with Je Lama [Tsongkhapa's] intention.
འཁོར་འདས་ཀུན་གྱི་རྩ་བ་སེམས་ཀུན་རྟོག་བཞོན་པའི་རླུང་དང་བཅས་པ་ལས་དབེན་པར་བྱས་ཏེ་བདེ་སྟོང་དབྱེར་མི་ཕྱེད་པའི་ངོ་བོར་ཤར་བའི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་ཡིན་པས་ན།
Etymology (YGL): Due to being a yoga that is isolated from all conceptualisations that are the root of Samsara and Nirvana together with their wind-mounts and thereby dawns in the nature of inseparable bliss and emptiness.
