Symbolic dorje

When [symbolic] dorje is divided: རྡོོ་རྗེ་ལ་དབྱེ་ན།

1. One-pronged dorje རྡོོ་རྗེ་རྩེ་གཅིག་པ།
2. Three-pronged dorje རྩེ་གསུམ་པ།
3. Five-pronged dorje རྩེ་ལྔ་པ།
4. Nine-pronged dorje རྩེ་དགུ་པ།
5. Double-dorje སྣ་ཚོོགས་རྡོོ་རྗེ།
6. Ornamental-dorje རྒྱན་གྱི་རྡོོ་རྗེ་རྣམས་སུ་ཡོོད།

རྡོོར་དྲིལ་གཉིས་ཀའང་རྩེ་མོོ་གཅིག་པ་ནས་རྩེ་མོོ་སྟོོང་གི་བར་དུ་ཡོོད་དོོ།
Both dorje and bell can have from one prong and up to thousands of prongs.

Those dorjes can be: རྡོོ་རྗེ་དེ་ལ་

1. Wrathful: with sharp points and curved outwards རྩེ་མོོ་མི་རྣོོ་ཞིང་ཟུམ་པ་ནི་ཞི་བའི་རྡོོ་རྗེའོོ།
2. Peaceful: with blunt points and curved in རྩེ་མོོ་རྣོོ་ཞིང་ཕྱིར་གདེངས་པ་ནི་ཁྲོ་བོོའི་རྡོོ་རྗེ་དང་།

སྣ་ཚོོགས་རྡོོ་རྗེ་ནི། རྩེ་མོོ་གསུམ་པ་དང་། ལྔ་པ་གཉིས་སུ་ཡོོད།
There are two types of double-dorje: three-pronged and five-pronged.

རྒྱན་གྱི་རྡོོ་རྗེ་ནི། ཅི་མཛེས་སུ་བྱས་པའི་རྩེ་གསུམ་པ་སོོགས་དུ་མ་ཡོོད།
Ornamental-dorjes are of many different number of prongs, made to be as beautiful as possible.

Symbolism:

• The central hub of the dorje symbolises Vajrasatta རྡོོ་རྗེའི་ལྟེ་བས་རྡོོ་རྗེ་སེམས་དཔའ་མཚོོན།
• The five upper prongs symbolise the five buddha families (Vairocana and so forth)
  སྟེང་རྭ་ལྔས་རྣམ་སྣང་སོོགས་རིགས་ལྔ་མཚོོན།
• The upper eight lotus petals symbolise the eight Bodhisattvas who are in the nature of the eight branches of arya paths, such as Maitreya and so forth.
  སྟེང་གི་པད་འདབ་བརྒྱད་ཀྱིས་འཕགས་ལམ་ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་ཀྱི་རང་བཞིན་བྱམས་པ་སོོགས་སེམས་དཔའ་བརྒྱད་མཚོོན་པ་ཡིན།
• The five lower prongs symbolise the five types of ḍākinīs
  འོོག་རྭ་ལྔས་མཁའ་འགྲོ་སྡེ་ལྔ་མཚོོན།
• The lower eight lotus petals symbolise the eight goddesses: the four female gatekeepers and the four goddesses of Cundavajrī and so forth.
  འོོག་གི་པད་འདབ་བརྒྱད་ཀྱིས་སྒོ་མ་བཞི་དང་བསྐུལ་བྱེད་མ་སོོགས་བཞི་སྟེ་ལྷ་མོོ་བརྒྱད་མཚོོན།
