Forward pervasion (Jetsunpa)

Definition of being the forward pervasion in the proof that sound is impermanent:
That ascertained by valid cognition as existing only in the concordant class in the proof that sound is impermanent by the person for whom it holds as the second mode of the sign in the proof that sound is impermanent.

The subject – stating “existent” as part of the explained definition of forward pervasion – there is a purpose because it is in order to exclude “product” from being a contradictory sign in the proof that sound is impermanent.

That can be eliminated in dependence upon that because if it is a contradictory sign in the proof of that, then it is necessarily non-existent in the concordant class in the proof of that.

The subject – stating “only” as part of the explained definition of that – there is a purpose because it is in order to exclude “product” from being an actual indefinite reason in the proof that sound is impermanent.

That can be eliminated in dependence upon that because if it is an actual indefinite reason in the proof of that, then it necessarily does not exist only in the concordant class in the proof of that; because if it is an actual indefinite reason in the proof that sound is impermanent, then it is necessarily existent in both the concordant and discordant classes in the proof that sound is impermanent.

There is a purpose for not stating “only/categorically” after “existent” but rather stating it before as part of the explained definition of that because it is in order to indicate that “arisen from effort” is the forward pervasion in the proof that the sound of a conch is impermanent.

If “only/categorically” is not stated before “existent” but rather is stated after as part of the explained definition of that, then a wrong conception thinking “Maybe ‘arisen from effort’ is not the forward pervasion in the proof that the sound of a conch is impermanent” will arise because if it is stated as such, then a doubt thinking “If it is the forward pervasion in the proof of that, is it necessarily existent in the entirety of the concordant class in the proof of that?” will arise.

There is a purpose for stating “ascertained” because it is in order to eliminate [the case where] the debater for whom “product” holds as the property of the position in the proof that sound is impermanent doubts whether or not product exists in the concordant class in the proof that sound is impermanent, just like the proof that the being opposite who speaks is free from attachment using the sign “speaking”.
